Book on Holocaust Wins Pulitzer Prize
Saul Friedlander, a professor of history at UCLA, has won the Pulitzer Prize for nonfiction work. The prize was awarded for his book The Years of Extermination: Nazi Germany and the Jews, 1939–1945. The isRealli blog (the blog of the Israel consulate in New York) has translated an interview with him from the Hebrew Ynet. Friedlander talks about how his personal biography led him to research the Holocaust, what sources he used, and the emotional challenges of writing about this subject.
