Christian Zionism, Religious Zionism and Anti-Semitism
A round-up of some items which appeared over the weekend:
Talk to Action rejects the beliefs of Rev. John Hagee, and calls them an obsession with the Jewish rejection of Jesus. She calls for non-Jews to accept Jews as a part of society and to cease to view them as playing a significant role in world affairs.
Caroline Glick writes about Religious Zionism, claiming that the withdrawal from the Gaza Strip was a move to minimize the power of the Religious Zionist movement. The more recent controversy in Israel over conversions performed by a leading Religious Zionist leader is another attempt to accomplish the same thing. Glick argues that this is a mistake, since Religious Zionism is a vital part of Israeli society.
And last but not least, Z-Word links to a new website of the European Forum on Antisemitism. The mission statement says:
The European Forum on Antisemitism is a resource for Jewish community representatives, public opinion leaders, and members of non-governmental organizations dedicated to combating antisemitism. The Forum fosters advocacy, awareness and alertness to reduce the danger of antisemitism, a destabilizing force for democracy.
To achieve these aims, the European Forum on Antisemitism provides a platform for representatives of Jewish communities and NGOs from across Europe to bring issues to public attention, create educational material, highlight best practices and develop integrated strategies to fight antisemitism.
