Munich Massacre

On Sep. 5-6, 1972, the terrorist group Black September killed eleven Israeli athletes and coaches and one German police officer.   The terrorists took the Israeli Olympic team hostage, demanding the release and safe passage to Egypt of 234 Palestinians and non-Arabs jailed in Israel, and two German terrorists.  The Israelis refused to negotiate.  German snipers were sent in to ambush the kidnappers, but the attempt failed.  The kidnappers killed the hostages.  Golda Meir authorized the Mossad to track down and kill those responsible for the Munich massacre.
