Geza Vermes

Geza Vermes, Judaic Studies, New Testament and Dead Sea Scrolls scholar, is interviewed by The Guardian.  He was born Jewish but his family later converted to Catholicism.  He survived the Holocaust by hiding out in various theological seminaries.  He left the priesthood in order to get married and settled in London.  A few years later he took the position of Judaic Studies professor at Oxford, where he taught until retirement.  He still lives in Oxford and has just published his third book in a series about Jesus.
