1. Sadly, Prof. Joseph Baumgarten passsed away on Thursday. Prof. Baumgarten, of Baltimore Hebrew College, was an expert on the Dead Sea Scrolls. He was also Rabbi Emeritus of congregation Bnai Jacob Shaarie Zion in Baltimore.

2. Gil Troy has written an article about secular kibbutzim and aliyah. It starts and ends as a eulogy for his first cousin’s husband, and in between discusses the ideals he represented.

3. Marc Michael Epstein tells Mixed Multitudes about his new book, The Medieval Haggadah: Art, Narrative and Religious Imagination. The book features full-size color photographs of the Golden Haggadah and three other hagaddahs.
